ABOUT US

OUR STORY

Victoria Falls Ranch was born from a simple but powerful idea: dogs thrive when they’re free to move, learn, and live as they were meant to, in nature, with guidance and connection.

Built on a deep personal bond with dogs and the outdoors, our ranch offers a space where dogs don’t just stay but they grow.

With spacious fields, real training, and a lifestyle rooted in trust and respect, we’re here to transform the way dogs and humans live together.

CAMERON NAM MCCARTY

Founder & Operations Manager

I had a marketing career in Melbourne and a 33kg American Staffordshire Terrier named Taro who destroyed my furniture, pulled me down streets, and started fights at dog parks.

I tried everything. Nothing worked.

Then I found real trainers and learned that training isn't about commands - it's about connection.

One night, camping with Taro at a place called Victoria Falls, I realized: this is what I'm meant to do.

So I came back to Vietnam and built this ranch.

Before Taro, I had a marketing career that bored me and a real estate job that fired me. I was 26 and lost. The only thing I cared about was figuring out how to fix my relationship with my dog.

So I chased it. Volunteered at shelters every week. Started a dog-walking business with five dogs at a time, all off-leash. Booked lessons with every good trainer I could find.

Then I drove 10 hours to Sydney to learn from Bear — a farmer who trained dogs on a working farm with sheep, horses, and seven dogs running free. When he whistled, his dog Cobber crawled over on his belly. Not for treats. Because they were connected.

Bear told me: "The dog has to love you. You have to be the reward. It’s all about connection"

That changed everything. I stopped trying to control Taro and started building a partnership. By the time he was 6, we could walk off-leash through city streets.

That camping trip to Victoria Falls? That's where I decided: if I ever open a training facility, I'll name it after this moment.

Three years later, I came back to Vietnam — where I grew up, where my family is — and built this ranch with Mark.

This is the place I wish existed when Taro and I were struggling. If you're there right now, let me help.

MARK SINGER

Dog Trainer & Behaviour Specialist

With over 43 years of professional experience, including time as a specialist dog trainer for the Australian government and service in the Royal Australian Air Force - Mark helped countless dogs work through serious behavioural challenges. His goal is to restore calm, trust, and balance between dogs and their owners so you can enjoy a respectful, stable relationship with your dog.

At Victoria Falls Dog Training and Behaviour Rehabilitation, we know that when you hand your dog over to someone, you're putting a lot of trust in their hands. That’s why we’ve brought in one of Australia’s most seasoned professionals to lead our team: Mark Singer, with over 43 years of hands-on experience in professional dog training and behaviour rehabilitation.

From Military Service to Civilian Expertise

Mark’s career began in 1980, when he enlisted in the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) as a police dog handler. Over the next 12 years, he rose through the ranks to become a specialist dog trainer, responsible not just for working dogs, but also for training and supervising other handlers. His military career set a strong foundation in obedience, discipline, and real-world application of canine behaviour.

During his time in the RAAF, Mark became a narcotics detection dog trainer, playing a key role in the fight against illegal drug use within the military. His expertise was recognized and used extensively by Australian Customs, the Australian Federal Police, and various state police forces, making him a go-to trainer in high-stakes operations.

After leaving the military, Mark was recruited by the Australian Quarantine Inspection Service (AQIS) to help establish their Quarantine Detection Dog Program—a cornerstone of the country’s biosecurity strategy. After completing his time with AQIS, he transitioned into civilian life and launched his own dog training business in Australia in 1996, offering behaviour rehabilitation and obedience services to the general public. He’s been doing so ever since.

A Trusted Leader in Dog Behaviour

Mark’s approach is grounded in science-based training methods that focus on emotional stability, clarity, and long-term behaviour change. Whether working with high-drive working dogs or nervous family pets, his ability to read, understand, and reshape behaviour is what sets him apart.

He is government-accredited and respected internationally for his work, with a career that spans law enforcement, national biosecurity, and over two decades of private practice. Mark works with dogs of all breeds, ages, and behavioural backgrounds, always tailoring his methods to suit the individual dog and the goals of the owner.
